Mr Bird ft. Greg Blackman - Where Did The Party Go
It’s difficult to describe the feeling when you know you’ve heard something that eclipses the mighty Mr Bird & Greg Blackman’s Ramrock Blue modern soul 12” classic ‘Over Again’ featuring the now legendary Tom Moulton remix. But many of you are going to experience that feeling and your feedback is going to reflect that moment when that single musical droplet of universal joyful harmony hits your hippocampus and you dissolve with happiness. There are the two 'North Street' remixes of ‘Where Did The Party Go’ on the digital EP and 3 versions on the vinyl 12". On the A side is the funky Lo-Fi Classics original, taken from the album of the same name, produced & co-written by Steven Bird and delivered with gritty, Muscle Shoals confidence by Greg Blackman. This version garnered mass plaudits from the soul cognoscenti – both DJs and radio presenters alike - on its first outing on the BBE label in July 2014. Flipping the vinyl over, Ashley Beedle, Jo Wallace and Darren Morris deliver the two North Street remixes; the BPM has been dropped and as the 90’s RnB/steppers vibe kicks in, Mr Morris’s keyboards underpin the majesty of Greg Blackman’s vocal delivery – utterly sublime. On the final version, Greg’s vocals are laid bare on The ‘Stripped Back’ remix - your soul will soar and you’ll remember the moment for a long time – savour it.
